Carroll Earns Top-Notch Credit Ratings, Completes Successful Bond Sale

Carroll County held all three AAA credit ratings again this week and completed its latest bond sale at favorable terms, keeping borrowing costs down as the County moves forward with major capital projects.

Fitch Ratings, S&P Global Ratings, and Moody’s each reaffirmed their highest ratings for the County, placing Carroll among a small group of jurisdictions nationwide that maintain top marks across all agencies.

The County sold $31.5 million in new bonds at an interest rate of 3.45%. The funds will support a wide range of priorities, including public safety facilities, school construction, public works improvements, conservation and water resources, and loans to local fire companies.

“Our Carroll County team visited the credit rating agencies in New York and delivered an excellent presentation highlighting Carroll County’s many strengths,” said Board of County Commissioners President Kenny Kiler. “The renewal of triple AAA ratings from S&P, Fitch, and Moody’s is a testament to the hard work of our committed staff, the financial stability of the County, and has resulted in today’s very successful bond sale.”
