Prince George’s County has officially sworn in Council Member Shayla Adams-Stafford to represent District 5, following her victory in the recent special election.
Prince George’s County officially welcomed its newest Council Member, as Shayla Adams-Stafford took the oath of office to represent District 5. Last week’s ceremony drew a crowd of supporters, community leaders, and local officials.

Council Member Adams-Stafford now fills the seat vacated when former Council Member Jolene Ivey transitioned to an at-large position. Voters selected Adams-Stafford in a recent special election, part of a series of leadership shifts that also included the race for County Executive.
The Council assigned Adams-Stafford to several standing committees, including Education and Workforce Development (as Vice Chair), Planning, Housing, and Economic Development, and General Assembly.
Council Member Adams-Stafford will serve the remainder of the current term. MACo looks forward to working with Council Member Adams-Stafford on shared priorities for county governments and the residents they serve.
