Calvert County Treasurer Nova Tracy-Soper will retire on May 30, 2025, after three decades of dedicated service in elected office. First elected in 1994, Tracy-Soper leaves behind a legacy of modernization, accountability, and customer-focused leadership in Calvert County’s tax administration.
Over her 30-year tenure, Tracy-Soper prioritized strong fiscal management and responsive customer service. Under her leadership, the Treasurer’s Office introduced online credit card payments for property taxes and expanded public access to tax information through an enhanced online platform.
Throughout her time in office, Tracy-Soper emphasized professionalism and high-quality service delivery. Her leadership helped build and maintain public trust in an office that interacts daily with residents and businesses across Calvert County.
A Calvert County resident since 1970, Tracy-Soper graduated from Calvert Christian High School and earned degrees in business management from Prince George’s Community College and the University of Maryland.
Before entering public service, she built a career in banking and finance. Over the years, she earned several honors, including the Outstanding Young Women of America award and the Public Service Award from Carroll Western United Methodist Church.
The Calvert County Treasurer’s Office plays a vital role in managing county finances. The office oversees the collection of property and personal property taxes, landfill fees, water and sewer payments, permit fees, revenue from gambling and liquor licenses, and other income sources. It also conducts the County’s tax sale and supports the property transfer process by researching and verifying deeds before being recorded with the Clerk of the Circuit Court.
