Counties Shine as MEDA Announces 2025 Award Winners

The Maryland Economic Development Association (MEDA) has announced the winners of the 2025 Annual Awards. These awards recognize the people, programs, and projects bringing economic prosperity to Maryland.

“Each year, selecting the MEDA award winners is a rewarding challenge, as we are fortunate to have so many outstanding people, programs, and projects making a meaningful impact across Maryland,” says MEDA President Richard G. Griffin, CEcD. “It’s a great challenge to have, as these efforts are directly shaping the future of our state and driving lasting economic prosperity for communities statewide.”

MEDA‘s Award winners include:
  • Large Community Project Award: The revitalization of the Hoen Lithograph Campus in East Baltimore, now a hub for mission-driven organizations and social enterprises.
  • Small Community Project Award: Oasis Fresh Foods Market in Indian Head, bringing jobs and expanding the local food ecosystem.
  • Large Community Program Award: Baltimore Gas and Electric’s Smart Energy for Economic Development (SEED) program has facilitated infrastructure improvements and created thousands of jobs.
  • Small Community Program Award: Queen Anne’s County Career Center Initiative, a model for workforce development and Career Technology Education (CTE).
  • Large Community Marketing Award: The Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation’s “Be Next” campaign attracts businesses to the county with a highly successful marketing strategy.
  • Small Community Marketing Award: “Make It. In The Mountains” campaign, a collaboration between Allegany and Garrett Counties, focused on attracting and retaining businesses in targeted sectors.
  • Transformative Economic Development Award: The Baltimore Street Project in Cumberland, revitalizing historically significant buildings and reshaping the city.
The winners will be honored at the MEDA Annual Conference on April 28, 2025, at the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge, Maryland. See the press release for more details on these projects.
