Kathy Klausmeier was sworn in as Baltimore County’s fifteenth county executive, vowing to focus on growing the economy,
continuing historic investments in public schools and higher education, addressing local housing shortages, improving public safety and balancing the County’s $5 billion budget.
Klausmeier is the first female county executive in Baltimore County’s history, and will serve the remaining two years of the term vacated by Congressman Johnny Olszewski, Jr.
“I am humbled to be selected as the 15th county executive of Baltimore County and want to thank the Baltimore County Council for conducting an open and transparent selection process,” said County Executive Klausmeier. “I am committed to working with the council, Administrative Officer Walker, and all our department directors to improve public safety, continue investing in our schools, and secure our county’s fiscal future. I have a strong record of building partnerships with leaders from every community and I look forward to using that experience to continue our progress and move Baltimore County forward.”
“On behalf of our Baltimore County employees, I’m proud to congratulate and welcome Baltimore County Executive Klausmeier,” said Baltimore County Administrative Officer D’Andrea Walker. “Our entire enterprise stands ready for a smooth transition that will continue to prioritize the resources and services our residents rely on. I look forward to working with County Executive Klausmeier to deliver continued progress and fiscally-sound decisions for every community in Baltimore County.”
