St. Mary’s County has received the prestigious Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the fiscal 2025 budget book.
This recognition highlights the County’s commitment to transparent and effective financial management, setting a high standard for public budgeting.
The fiscal 2025 budget book earned special recognition for its Capital Improvement Program (CIP), achieving the highest possible scores from all three independent reviewers. This accomplishment reflects the Finance Team’s dedication to producing a budget that serves as a comprehensive policy document, financial plan, operations guide, and communication tool.
“The Distinguished Budget Award represents more than a title—it’s a testament to the diligence, precision, and collaboration that drive the work of our amazing Finance Team,” said County Administrator David Weiskopf. “Their efforts continue to enhance public understanding and trust in the fiscal stewardship of St. Mary’s County.”
The GFOA Distinguished Budget Presentation Award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting and is awarded to state and local governments that meet rigorous national guidelines.
