Baltimore County announced the release of a final report detailing the actions being taken to make the County an Age-Friendly Community reflecting the growing older adult population and prioritizing their care and quality of life. 

The Age-Friendly Baltimore County report highlights Baltimore County’s strategic efforts from 2021 through 2024 to improve key aspects of livability, including housing, transportation, community health services, outdoor spaces, and communication.

“We are committed to fostering an environment where all of our residents can age with dignity, access the care they need, and thrive,” said Olszewski. “This report highlights the important work we are doing in Baltimore County to support our seniors, and we look forward to continuing to meet – and exceed – the evolving needs and priorities of our valued friends, family and neighbors.”

Notable accomplishments include:

• A 2023 foundational housing reform legislative package expanding access to new housing opportunities and addressing community concerns throughout Baltimore County;
• The launch of the Baltimore County Age-Friendly Upgrades for Seniors (BCAUSE) program, which provides essential home repairs and safety modifications to help homeowners aged 65 and older age safely in place;
• The creation of the Loop, a free public transportation service operating as a circulator system in Towson, enhancing mobility for all residents;
• New intergenerational events and programs for community groups, and in libraries and senior centers;
• Enhanced accessibility in parks and facilities, including upgrades at several locations specifically designed to make these spaces welcoming and usable for everyone.
