This week, Maryland Comptroller Brooke Lierman announced Maryland Tax Connect, a brand-new online portal for Maryland business taxpayers to use in 2024.

Maryland Tax Connect is a self-service portal allowing taxpayers to file their taxes online with increased ease and security, enabling them to interact with the Comptroller’s Office more efficiently. Although only business taxpayers will be able to use it beginning in February 2024, by 2026, all Maryland taxpayers will be able to pay their state taxes through the Maryland Tax Connect portal.
The portal is designed to allow taxpayers to complete essential functions themselves, accessible from either a mobile device or a desktop, including:
- Making online payments
- Updating personal information
- Retrieving tax information
- Filing returns
- Viewing filing and tax history
- Registering a business
- Applying for or renewing business licenses
- Applying for sales and use tax exemption certificates
Businesses should be aware of the following important information to ensure a smooth transition to Maryland Tax Connect:
- The last day to use the current bFile application is January 22, 2024. Incomplete returns will no longer be available after this date.
- A welcome letter with instructions on registering for a Maryland Tax Connect account will be mailed to all active business taxpayers in February 2024.
- With the new system, there will be improvements in the appearance of our tax forms and the overall online experience. The form numbers have not changed, but there are several formatting changes to the layout.
