MACo has announced the winners of the Legislative Recognition Award.
The Maryland Association of Counties (MACo) Board of Directors recently voted to present the MACo Recognition Award to four (4) individuals for supporting issues important to counties. With these awards, MACo recognizes policymakers who have advocated for counties on specific issues and county staff who have gone above and beyond to assist Maryland’s counties.
AWARD WINNERS
Delegate Regina T. Boyce: Delegate Boyce has been tireless in her efforts to promote, protect, and improve the well-being of local communities and consistently worked with MACo and other stakeholders on a wide range of policy issues that affected county governments and shared constituents. Her longstanding commitment to working with county governments on various topics underscores the reason for the award.

Senator Malcolm Augustine: Senator Augustine has demonstrated relentless advocacy to advance MACo’s Legislative Initiative to bolster volunteer and career firefighter recruitment and retention. His longstanding commitment to working with county governments on various topics underscores the reason for the award.

Senator Mary Beth Carozza: Senator Carozza has remained consistent and fervent in advocacy for local flexibility and decision-making and regularly seeks MACo’s input on legislation that affects county governments. Her longstanding commitment to working with county governments on various topics underscores the reason for the award.

Terry Hickey, Director, Baltimore County Department of Housing and Community Development: Director Hickey has dedicated significant time and energy to helping MACo develop flexible housing solutions and shared his expertise on planning and zoning issues with the MACo Board, legislators, county governments, and other stakeholders. His longstanding commitment to working with county governments on various topics underscores the reason for the award.
The award will be presented during the MACo’s Winter Conference Awards Banquet on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Hotel in Cambridge, Maryland.
