University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health (UM UCF) and the Upper Chesapeake Health Foundation (UCHF) announced a $7.5 million endowment gift to establish The Anna and James Lambdin Leadership Institute.
The endowment — the largest independent gift ever donated to UCHF — comes from the new institute’s namesakes, Anna and James Lambdin to establish a medical professional leadership institute.
The Anna and James Lambdin Leadership Institute will focus on building tomorrow’s leaders and will offer two programs: Professional Advancement in Nursing Leadership Fellows and The Lyle E. Sheldon Leadership Fellows.
The Baltimore Sun explained the two professional programs that will be offered by the institute:
Professional Advancement in Nursing Leadership Fellows will identify leaders in the hospital’s nursing community and provide them with funding to pursue individual or group professional advancement. Some of the areas of study include “clinical scholarship and inquiry, education (advanced and supportive roles), certification, health policy advocacy, community outreach, and respectable and equitable practice,” according to a news release.
Lyle E. Sheldon Leadership Fellows, named for retiring University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Health President and CEO Lyle Sheldon, will offer an annual, full-day leadership development program.
