Harford County recently graduated seven students from its Master Watershed Stewards Academy.
Earlier this month, Harford County graduated seven students from its Master Watershed Stewards Academy. The program was developed by Harford’s Watershed Protection and Restoration Office in cooperation with the University of Maryland Sea Grant Extension Office. Master watershed stewards are trained to become community leaders who promote Harford Streams’ mission to increase water quality awareness, encourage actions to reduce human impacts to water quality, and engage communities to take steps to improve water quality.
The watershed program was started in 2018. Participants in the Harford County program were chosen following an application and interview process announced in August 2019. Classes were held at Harford Community College in Bel Air; the program included local field trips and class projects. Graduation was delayed due to the pandemic.
