Allegany County recently announced a limited event to dispose of hazardous household waste to be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021, from 9am to 2pm.
Allegany County will be hosting a hazardous household waste disposal next month at the Allegany County Fairgrounds: 11490 Moss Avenue, Cumberland. This event is limited to county residents only and verification of residency will be required. Waste from non-residential patrons will not be accepted.
The disposal of most items will be at no cost to residents. Some of these materials include:
- Non-latex paint
- batteries
- fluorescent light bulbs
- chemicals
- cleaners
- fuels
- oils
Latex paint recycling requires a fee of $3 per container (quart, one gallon, or five gallons).
Items that will not be accepted include:
- tires
- electronics
- ammunition
- explosives
- medicine
- medical waste
- regular household trash
