Former Kent County Commissioner, and MACo Leader, William Pickrum died at age 73 this week.

He was elected in 2002 to the Kent County Board of Commissioners where he served four terms until losing re-election in 2018.

Pickrum represented Kent County at the Maryland Association of Counties where he rose to 1st Vice-President.

Kent County Commissioner Ron Fithian served alongside Pickrum for three terms. Aside from Fithian, Pickrum is the longest serving Kent County Commissioner.

“He was a big part of Kent County,” Fithian said during an interview. Fithian indicated that flags will be lowered to half-staff in his memory. “We never had a cross word with each other and I had a great deal of respect for Bill. We voted together on most major policy decisions.”
