The Commissioners of St. Mary’s County approved a request by the Department of Public Works & Transportation to reclassify and reorganize the Airport Operations Division into the Transportation Division. 

This reclassification will consolidate the St. Mary’s County Transit System position vacated by retirement with an existing Airport Management staff position. Allison Swint will assume the newly created Deputy Director – Transportation role.

The new deputy director position will incorporate all the current duties of the Airport Manager and the Transportation Manager to create the synergy and focus on both public-private partnerships and contractor delivered services necessary to move the Transportation Division to the next level.

This reorganization will allow for a projection of over $85,000 FY 21 savings in county expenses.
