Anne Arundel County will receive a total of $167,575 in federal funding to supplement emergency food and shelter programs across the County.
A Local Board made up of Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services, American Red Cross, United Way, ACDS, Mental Health Agency, and select others will determine how the funds awarded to the county are to be distributed among the emergency food and shelter programs run by local service agencies in the area.
According to a County press release:
Anne Arundel County will receive Phase 37 and Phase CARES $95,242 and $72,333 respectively, to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county.
The Phase 37 and Phase CARES 110 Local Board is charged to distribute funds appropriated by Congress to help expand the capacity of food and shelter programs in high-need areas around the country.
Under the terms of the grant from the National Board, local agencies chosen to receive funds must:
- Be private voluntary nonprofits or units of government,
- Be eligible to receive Federal funds,
- Have an accounting system,
- Practice nondiscrimination,
- Have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs,
- If they are a private voluntary organization, have a voluntary board.
