#MACoCon goes Green-ing

WGL Energy, a Platinum level MACo Corporate Partner and Summer Conference sponsor, is continuing their tradition of Greening the MACo Conference.

Greening? What does that mean?

WGL will donate carbon offsets to counterbalance the greenhouse gas emissions resulting from the conference including energy use, hotel stays, food, and other waste. The energy company will also invest a portion of the proceeds from the carbon offset purchases into the Carbon Reduction Fund, which is managed by the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. Funds are used to develop greenhouse gas-reducing projects and improve air quality in the Chesapeake Bay region.

WGL’s partnership with the Chesapeake Bay Foundation has supported numerous projects including improved farming techniques that reduce fertilizer use, community restoration projects and restoring woodlands around the watershed by planting tens of thousands of trees.
