Description: Ensuring residents have access to mental health and substance use disorder treatment remains a pressing issue for local governments. County jails house people with some of the most acute mental health treatment needs as well as those at highest risk for drug overdoses once they are released. Drug overdose rates continue to skyrocket across the state as more lethal drugs flood the market. Accessible treatment beds within local communities remain few and far between. Counties struggle to find solutions that can meet their growing needs and reach those who are hardest to reach. In this session, learn about the challenges local governments face providing behavioral services to their most vulnerable community members and what pioneering approaches could help.
