Barry Glassman, following his successful re-election bid, took his oath of office for a second term as Harford County Executive. In 2019, he is also slated to serve as MACo’s President.
The Baltimore Sun, with reporting through The Aegis, covered the inauguration. County Executive Glassman reflected on challenges that have already faced the county during his service, including two notable incidents of gun violence. He also pointed toward the county’s progress on many priorities, and toward collaborations working forward:
“The national tides are pushing a lot of folks in different directions, and I think it’s good just to have a voice of unity out there that keeps us at our anchor of where we’ve always been as a county,” he added.
In his comments, the county executive touted successes of his first term, including doubling the general fund balance, stabilizing county debt and maintaining Harford’s AAA bond rating.
Pending a vote of the MACo membership at the This second term – his last, due to the county’s term limit – caps nearly 30 years in public service for the County Executive.
