New technologies make it easier for criminals to contact children in ways that were not previously possible. Title: To Catch a Predator: Protecting Children from Cybercrimes
Description: Expanded internet connections and the wide-spread use of smart phones and tablets has made accessing the internet easier than ever – especially for teens. A Pew Research Report found that 92% of teens report going online daily. There are a lot of positives to youth internet access and fun to be had on social networking sites and online apps. However dangers including child pornography, online predators, sexting, the dark web, and cyberbullying lurk around the web. Through facilitated discussion, video, and practical demonstrations, participants will learn more about how officials are taking action to promote online safety and protect children from technology facilitated crimes.
