busy summer travel season. County tourism destinations in western Maryland and on the eastern shore boast unique areas of interest – the Welcome Centers offer a local’s take on the many attractions, restaurants, and shops that travelers can visit. Re-opening the Welcome Centers will support the tourism industries in several counties across the state.

Two anticipated re-openings were the Youghiogheny Overlook center in Garrett County and the Bay Country center in Queen Anne’s County.

From WCBC:

“The reopening of these welcome centers is critical to Maryland’s thriving tourism industry and provides an important service to thousands of visitors each year,” said Governor Hogan. “The professionalism of our welcome center staff and their extensive knowledge of the state’s unique attractions ensures that our visitors have a positive experience and will encourage them to return to our state again and again.”
