MACo adds Tech Expo to Wednesday of Summer Conference for intense hands-on training in new and developing technologies.

MACo’s 2016 Summer Conference will focus on technology, highlighting digital and cyber solutions to local government challenges. As always, the conference will feature 4 days of more than 20 educational sessions along with meetings, briefings, and a 2-day tradeshow of 220+ exhibiting companies.
To add to the learning opportunities, MACo is planning a Tech Expo for Wednesday, August 17. Two Deep Dive sessions of 75-minutes each will be offered. The sessions will be very in-depth and interactive and will feature demonstrations of the technology discussed. Technology vendors will be highlighted through a special half-day table-top exhibit show on Wednesday afternoon. Vendors will participate in a fast-paced 30-minute IGNITE session detailing the vendors’ products and services.

- Look! Up In the Sky! It’s a Bird! It’s a Plane! No – It’s a Drone!
The capabilities and potential applications of unmanned aerial vehicles (commonly known as “drones”) are vast and rapidly expanding. Drones can assist county governments in a wide array of areas, including public safety, emergency response, transportation and infrastructure management, service efficiencies, and data collection. Panelists will discuss the current state of drone technology and the myriad tasks drones can be used for. A live drone demonstration will accompany the presentation.

- Remote 9-1-1: An IP-Portal to Faster Emergency Response
In a regional response, emergency managers require tools that ensure rapid, reliable, and interoperable communications to help save lives. Join this hands-on demonstration of today’s mobile command and radio technologies in a special session during MACo’s Tech Expo. Walk-through a mobile command unit and see how emergency managers use its features to deploy their responders in coordination with the home county’s incident commander. Make a test-call on radios programmed for interoperable communications and see how they work together like they were part of the same agency.
