U of MD “Tabletop” Emergency Session at #MACoCon

With experience in emergency management planning, public health preparedness, cybersecurity, exercise and training, and other homeland security and emergency management specialties, The University of Maryland’s Center for Health and Homeland Security work with Maryland state and local agencies, and governments around the world to improve emergency preparedness and response to local and catastrophic events.

The Center, often called CHHS, is made up of a staff of more than 50 full-time professionals with a variety of backgrounds. Most of the staff holds advanced degrees in fields such as law, public health, homeland security and counter-terrorism, and public policy. Approximately half of the staff are based at the University of Maryland, Baltimore while others work from client sites in the region.

In Maryland, state and local emergency management work together to manage regional weather incidents such as winter storms and hurricanes. This year’s MACo Winter Conference will include an education session on emergency operations in the state with a tabletop for audience members to explore roles of local government officials during an emergency. The session, ABCs of EOCs:  County Roles During a Local Emergency, will be held from Friday, December 10, 2015 at 8am.

The MACo Winter Conference will be held December 9-11, 2015 at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Hotel in Cambridge. This year’s conference theme is “Mission: Public Safety.”
