Delegate McIntosh to Address Women of MACo

Maggie McIntosh, Baltimore City Delegate and Chair of the MD House Appropriations Committee, will address the Women of MACo on December 10, 2015.

Delegate Maggie McIntosh will address the Women of MACo at the upcoming MACo Winter Conference.

Delegate McIntosh represents Baltimore City in the General Assembly and is the Chair of the Maryland House Appropriations Committee. The Women of MACo is a chapter organization of the Maryland Association of Counties.  The organization’s membership is female elected and appointed officials from Maryland counties and Baltimore City.

The Women of MACo event will be held on Thursday December 10, 2015 from 11:45 am to 12:45 pm at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Hotel in Cambridge Maryland. Lunch will be served at noon, followed by welcoming remarks from Women of MACo President and Baltimore County Council Member Vicki Almond, and an address by Delegate Maggie McIntosh.

Delegate McIntosh has had a long history in the General Assembly. As described in her biography,

Maggie McIntosh first entered the House of Delegates in 1992 when she was appointed to fill a vacant position in the 42nd District, which contained neighborhoods from Baltimore City and Baltimore County. Maggie first served on the Appropriations Committee, where she chaired the Personnel Subcommittee and was a member of the Education and Economic Development Subcommittees. Delegate McIntosh later assumed the position of Vice Chairman of the Commerce and Government Matters Committee before being named House Majority Leader by Speaker Casper R. Taylor in 2001. She is the first woman in Maryland history to have held the post.

Following the 2002 legislative redistricting, Delegate McIntosh won a hard-fought campaign in the redrawn 43rd District, contained entirely within northern Baltimore City. She has since been re-elected in the 43rd District in 2006, 2010, and 2014. In January 2003 Delegate McIntosh was selected to chair the House Environmental Matters Committee, a post she held through 2014. Currently she chairs the House Appropriations Committee. She also continues to serve on the Legislative Policy Committee.

To attend the lunch, please register for the MACo Conference and buy a Thursday lunch ticket (included in a full registration, or available a la carte if you purchase a Thursday daily registration) and RSVP to Robin Clark by November 24, 2015.
