Six Seek Nomination for Queen Anne’s County Commission Seat

Six people submitted applications to fill the vacant Queen Anne’s County commissioner seat (district 1) that was held by Paul Comfort who resigned earlier this month to take position as head of the Maryland Transit Administration.

According to MyEasternShoreMD.com,

The applicants include former Commissioner Philip Dumenil of Grasonville, Sudlersville Town Commission President William “Bill” Faust III of Sudlersville, Eugene “Gene” Legg of Chestertown, Centreville Town Councilman Timothy McCluskey of Centreville, Kenny Rhodes of Sudersville and Jack Wilson of Centreville, announced Republican Central Committee Chairman Tim Kingston.

“I think we got good representation all the way around, and the two previous candidates applied,” he said, referring to Legg and Wilson who lost to Comfort in the primary.

The Republican Central Committee earlier announced it would only accept applicants who are registered Republican voters residing in District 1 (the district seat that is vacant), so Dumenil, who lives in District 3, and McCluskey, who lives in District 2, will not be considered.
