Numerous County Officials Advance Toward State Positions

Of the 14 current county elected officials who ran for state legislature positions, 8 have advanced through the primaries, and will be running in the general election in November.

  • Cecil County Council Member Alan McCarthy lost in the primary for Delegate District 36
  • Charles County Commissioner Candice Quinn Kelly lost primary for Delegate District 28
  • Frederick County Commissioner C. Paul Smith won primary for Delegate District 3A
  • Harford County Executive David Craig lost primary for Republican Candidate for Governor
  • Harford County Council Member Mary Ann Lisanti won primary for Delegate District 34A
  • Howard County Executive Ken Ulman won primary for Democratic Candidate for Lieutenant Governor
  • Prince George’s County Council Member Will Campos won primary for Delegate District 47B
  • St. Mary’s County Commissioner Larry Jarboe lost primary for Senator District 29
  • St. Mary’s County Commissioner Cindy Jones lost primary for Senator District 29
