Following a recent US Supreme Court ruling refining their stance on sectarian prayer during government meetings, the Carroll County Commissioners voted this week to reinstate their customary prayer during public meetings.
While the Supreme Court’s ruling eased this path in Maryland, the issue may not be fully settled, according to Associate Press reporting on the WMAR-TV website:
The high court decision prompted the federal judge in Baltimore to lift his restriction on the Carroll County prayers. But the plaintiffs in the underlying lawsuit say the Supreme Court ruling shouldn’t apply to Carroll County, where the prayers are said by the commissioners themselves.
