The Eastern Shore Land Conservancy (ESLC) is planning to hold a lunch and discussion about the effects of climate change on agricultural on Monday, December 9, 2013 in Ocean City, Maryland. The event called “Climate Change and Agriculture: Effects of Temperature and Carbon Dioxide (CO2) on Crops,” will be held from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the Ocean Public Library, 10003 Coastal Highway, in the mezzanine level meeting space. Complementary lunch will be provided.
Dr. Dennis Timlin, USDA Agricultural Research Service, and another guest speaker will discuss various crop models and research. Questions addressed include: What effect will increased CO2 have on crop growth? How could changing temperatures affect production? Are there opportunities for our region’s agriculture industry to continue to thrive given the effects of climate change?
