Calvert County Announces Preparedness Month

As reported in Southern Maryland News Net, last Tuesday, the Calvert Board of County Commissioners proclaimed the month of September as Calvert County Preparedness Month, urging all citizens to join with Public Safety/Emergency Management of Calvert County in carrying the message of being prepared to their communities.  The Commissioners encourage participation in national programs to improve emergency preparedness, as described,

This year is the 10th annual Emergency Preparedness Month. Emergency preparedness is the shared responsibility of the entire nation. Every community, business, family and individual has a role in planning and preparing for emergencies and disasters of all types. . .

The United States Department of Homeland Security and Citizen Corps urge all Americans to take time in September to put together an emergency supply kit, make a family emergency plan, become informed about the different threats and the appropriate response, and work with their communities to help them prepare. Maryland recognizes the importance of preparing for potential emergencies and holds appropriate events, preparedness information and activities.
