As reported in the Washington Post, Maryland has allocated $2 million to help fund dual-enrollment programs throughout the state, allowing students to take college courses while still in high school.  The Post describes,

The money for the expansion effort is part of the O’Malley administration’s Early College Innovation Fund, which was passed during the recent legislative session.

Prince George’s County Executive Rushern L. Baker III, joined O’Malley on the tour, and is quoted as saying, “This program is about expanding opportunity and exposure. . . I want to see more students in our schools exposed to opportunities like this.”  Prince George’s County’s dual-enrollment program at Prince George’s Community College is currently the only one in Maryland, according to the Post.
