Wicomico County announced that residents have saved over $12,000 in prescription drug costs for the first six months of 2012 through the NACo Prescription Drug Discount Card program.  The program, which is free to county residents, was launched in the county in 2008. Since then, residents have saved more than $247,000.  County Executive and MACo First Vice President, Rick Pollitt stated:

“When we initiated this program a few years ago, we were confident that our residents would take advantage of the tremendous savings from the expense of prescription drugs and we have not been disappointed.  This discount program is open to all Wicomico County citizens, regardless of age or income and we hope even more people will participate in this great community benefit.”

Launched in 2004 as a 17-county pilot program, the NACo in partnership with CVS Caremark, introduced the NACo Prescription Drug Discount Card program. The program, offered exclusively to families residing in any participating NACo-member county, provides a discount on commonly prescribed medications for those that do not have prescription drug insurance.
