Wicomico County Withdraws MOE Waiver Request

Wednesday, Wicomico County formally withdrew its request for a waiver from the state’s maintenance of effort (MOE) law for school funding, matching the decision made by each of the other five counties that had initially applied. With this decision, no counties are following through with the complete waiver process.

Wicomico County is among several that is not slated to receive an increase in its annual “foundation” funding from the State for FY 2012 — the additional funding that is at stake for counties that do not meet the statutory MOE funding target.

Information about each county’s initial filing, and subsequent withdrawal, is available at the State Board of Education Website. The withdrawal letter from Wicomico County is expected to be posted at that site soon.
