Walker, Smith Chosen to Lead Anne Arundel County Council

At the first council meeting since the Nov. 4 general election, Anne Arundel County Council Member Jerry Walker was chosen to be the chair of the council. Council Member Pete Smith was chosen to be the vice chair.

Returning incumbent Councilman Jerry Walker, a Crofton Republican, and newly elected Councilman Pete Smith, a Severn Democrat, will serve as chairman and vice chairman, respectively, for the next year. Typically, the council has chosen both leaders from the majority party, but the power will be split for the first time since 1994.
