Governor O’Malley Seeks Federal Disaster Aid for Six Counties

A July 27 Washington Post blog article discusses Governor Martin O’Malley’s efforts to secure federal disaster aid for the State and six counties from last month’s derecho storms.

Baltimore and Calvert, Charles, Kent, Montgomery and St. Mary’s counties were included in the request, which seeks reimbursement for local governments for up to 75 percent of the costs associated with response efforts and cleanup of the storms.  …

More counties could be added to the request later, [O'Malley Administration officials] said.

The article also notes that Virginia has made a similar request.
